Florida, April 21 – The more than 160 workers of the Leopoldo Rey Sampayo Pediatric Hospital in the municipality of Florida are preparing to participate in the May Day celebrations, proud of their daily efforts to defend the health and well-being of children and kidney patients in southwestern Camagüey province.
Over the past 12 months, the union movement at this medical institution has been at the forefront of numerous socio-community, political-ideological, volunteer, and job-sharing initiatives, all in support of the hospital’s primary missions.
Their support for the cleaning and beautification of the facility, their backing of the construction of a daycare center for the benefit of the hospital’s female employees, and the systematic recognition of outstanding employees are highlights of the work carried out by the union sections of the Leopoldo Rey Sampayo Pediatric Hospital in the municipality of Florida.
During a recent exchange with veteran combatants of Playa Girón, on the occasion of the 65th Anniversary of that epic, Vivian Mora Gutiérrez, leader of the labor movement in that state, described initiatives to defend as a welcome to May Day, and assured that her collectives will march as always at the forefront of the parade under the conviction that «The Homeland is defended» with everyone and for the good of all.
