Florida, Oct. 29 — The team at the Raw Materials Recovery Unit in the municipality of Florida has fully met its annual target for the recovery of non-ferrous metals destined for export.
According to Alfonso Peña Espinosa, director of the local Raw Materials Recovery Unit, key exportable items include copper, bronze, aluminum, and stainless steel.
The director noted that the unit also recovers materials for domestic circulation—such as glass bottles, cardboard, plastic, and lead—though the results in these categories remain below their full potential.
Staff at the Florida Raw Materials Recovery Unit are actively working to foster a culture of recycling. Initiatives include the «Recycle My Neighborhood» (Reciclo Mi Barrio) program, agreements with various economic stakeholders for the collection of these materials, and the gathering of raw materials at local schools.
The achievements of the workers at the Florida Raw Materials Recovery Unit this year, particularly regarding the recovery of non-ferrous metals, underscore the municipality’s potential to contribute to the local, provincial, and national economy.
