Florida, April 21 – Yamisleidi Arias Vega, General Secretary of the National Union of Education, Science, and Sports Workers (SNTECD), led a revolutionary reaffirmation event at the General Directorate of Education, where she called on all members to join the May Day parade under the slogans «The Homeland is Defended» and «Together We Create for Cuba.»
Following the official call of the Cuban Workers’ Federation (CTC) for 2026, the central slogan, «The Homeland Resonates,» this year serves as a tribute to the centennial of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro and as a response to the intensification of the economic blockade imposed by the United States. The complementary slogan, «Together We Create for Cuba,» reinforces the call for food production and the search for solutions to current energy and economic challenges.
At the event, Yamisleidi Arias Vega instructed local union branches to hold patriotic reaffirmation events in all workplaces across the sector, extending the invitation to students, retirees, and the community at large. This call aligns with the directives of the CTC (Central Organization of Cuban Workers), which has urged the celebration of the date in parades, public squares, and workplaces, acknowledging the rationality imposed by current circumstances while maintaining revolutionary steadfastness.
The union leader emphasized that the May Day commemoration will be yet another ideological battleground, where Cuban educators, scientists, and athletes will reaffirm their commitment to national sovereignty.
