Florida, Sept. 10 – The municipal branch of the National Association of the Blind (ANCI) in Florida is inviting interested parties to participate in the Third Scientific Symposium titled «Comprehensive Care for Deaf-Blindness: Current Status, Challenges, and Perspectives.» The event is scheduled to take place during the observance of the International Day for persons living with this sensory disability.
Key topics to be addressed include communication, family dynamics, educational support, and the use of information and communication technologies, as well as assistive devices, community services, and social inclusion.
Other proposed topics cover vocational and workforce training, career guidance, sex education, comprehensive rehabilitation, and employability.
Submissions must not exceed 20 pages. The cover page must include the event name, the full title of the paper (in all-caps and bold), the full names of the author(s), the institution or organization represented, the municipality, the province, and the year and location where the report or paper was prepared.
The event will be competitive in nature; a Grand Prize will be awarded, and its author—along with the top three place-winners—will receive a cash prize in national currency. The organizing committee also announced that a Special Prize, sponsored by the Quisicuaba Project, will be awarded for the best comprehensive community work involving persons with deaf-blindness.
