Issues of public interest dominated the debate at the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power

Florida, July 21 – In summarizing the 29th Ordinary Session of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power in Florida, Liliana Boudet Nápoles, First Secretary of the Communist Party in the territory, called for the application of Fidel Castro’s thinking to understand and implement the 176 reforms approved by the Cuban government, emphasizing oversight as the foundation of any outcome.

Political reflection extended beyond the information provided to the assembly delegates and the ensuing debate on this important current issue. After listening to various perspectives, the Mayor of Florida, Yunior Vega Rivero, outlined the strategy for implementing these alternatives as part of the 2026 Economic and Social Plan.

According to the Chief Executive of the local government, the goal is to advance first in 11 key areas and more than 50 transformations with a direct impact on Florida. This will be achieved through identifying opportunities, assessing financial needs, defining entities to implement new projects, and strengthening communication mechanisms with the community.

The 29th Ordinary Session of the highest body of People’s Power, convened this Sunday in the municipality of Florida, included information on the results of the summer program to date, with more than 500 activities completed according to the Culture Department. Details were also provided regarding the closing of the recently concluded school year, as well as preparations for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year.

The insufficient connection between management and the communities to address outstanding issues; the gaps, dissatisfaction, and negative perceptions generated by distortions in the banking process; and the negative results of the economic plan in Florida were other topics of interest analyzed by the people’s delegates at their government assembly.

Regarding this last point, the authorities’ demand to overcome limitations and gain ground in physical production, net sales, and commercial circulation was noteworthy—an essential chain upon which the generation of revenue for the state budget, the availability of cash in banks, and the economic growth of the municipality depend.

The intense agenda addressed at the meeting also included information related to combating corruption, crime, and illegal activities up to the end of June, and the accountability report of the Las Parras People’s Council.

At the close of the agenda of the twenty-ninth ordinary session of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power in Florida, the First Secretary of the Party, Liliana Boudet Nápoles, also called for the celebration of the 73rd Anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, and for walking with unity and will to defend history in the Year of the Centenary of the Birth of the eternal leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro Ruz.
