Florida, Jul. 3 – In the localities located to the south of the municipality of Florida it is necessary to reinforce the meteorological vigilance and to be very alert to the orientations of the Civil Defense, before the possible incidence of the rains associated to the hurricane Beryl, whose estimated trajectory through the Caribbean Sea could be close to the southern zone of the Cuban archipelago.
In a recent meeting, the president of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power and head of the Civil Defense in Florida, Evelyn Márquez Alvarez, explained that the current stage is one of prevention and the specification of the extraordinary actions to be undertaken to protect the population and the resources of the economy if an imminent threat of this intense tropical cyclone for Cuban territory becomes clear in the next few hours.
The leader informed that a governmental commission will punctuate in the southern community of Playa Florida the necessary safeguards and preventive measures that correspond to this type of situations, generated by the possible threat of a high intensity hurricane.
The delegates of the People’s Power in the whole municipality must visit the families whose houses are more vulnerable in their districts, in order to specify in a timely manner the need for evacuation in case of danger due to the impact of rains, strong winds or floods.
He also recalled the responsibility of each state entity to ensure the safeguarding of technological equipment and resources, in order to reduce the risk of accidents and avoid economic losses in the event of the possible impact of natural phenomena associated with a tropical cyclone.
In view of a possible incidence of rains associated with hurricane Beryl, the importance of prioritizing in the current process of distribution of the standard family food basket, those localities in the south of the municipality, which would be the closest to the danger posed by this meteorological phenomenon in its estimated trajectory through the Caribbean Sea, was highlighted.
