Beekeepers advance in Florida’s agricultural sector

Florida, June 13 – The beekeepers of the municipality of Florida exceeded by far the productive plans foreseen for the month of May, and became practically the only program in the agricultural sphere with favorable results so far in 2024.

The brigade of the territory, which includes associates from the neighboring municipality of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, made favorable progress in the collection of honey, wax and propolis, and thus maintained its outstanding position in the emulation of the province’s Beekeeping Base Business Unit (UEB).

Despite what was achieved, the low availability of fuel in the month of May prevented the Florida beekeepers from adding around 900 kilograms more of honey to the commitment for the period, as they were limited in the transfer to the apiaries to carry out the process of castration of the hives.

Among the most outstanding beekeepers in this stage were Alberto Tomey, Gelania Cabrera, Sergio Agüero, Lázaro Ávila, Ariel Oquendo and Omar Abrante, together with the beekeeping section of the Otero Unit of the Empresa Provincial de Granos Ruta Invasora.
