Vandalism Targeting Telecommunications Networks Disrupts Connectivity-Dependent Services in Florida

Florida, Oct. 8 – Recent acts of vandalism against telecommunications infrastructure in Camagüey province have had serious consequences for the municipality of Florida, making it one of the areas hardest hit by these criminal activities since last Monday.

Acts of sabotage and the theft of external network cables have caused disruptions to vital services, directly affecting landline telephony, internet connectivity, and access to digital platforms for thousands of customers in the area.

This highly complex situation severely limits residents’ daily activities, halts commercial transactions, hinders institutional communication, and impedes access to banking and e-commerce services at a time when connectivity is essential.

Specialists from the Telecommunications Company of Cuba (ETECSA) in Camagüey are working intensively in the affected areas to gradually restore service, while authorities investigate the incidents that threaten strategic resources and the well-being of ETECSA customers in Florida.
