Florida, May 14 – The National Fire Protection Week, which has been celebrated in Cuba since 1966 and contributes greatly to the education of our people in the prevention of these and other catastrophes, began on Monday with the celebration of special matinees in Florida’s educational institutions.

The 58th edition, which will last until May 19, will be an ideal occasion to renew and strengthen established safety actions and mechanisms and to encourage the necessary culture on how to minimize the occurrence of disasters that claim human lives and cause losses to the national economy.

Among the main actions to be carried out in the territory’s schools are the updating of prevention plans for these events, the review of risk identification and evaluation analyses and the training of fire departments at all educational levels.

During these days, students will participate in art contests, talks, informative panels, inauguration of drawing exhibitions and the presentation of circles of interest, with the purpose of turning into a daily habit the observance of the regulations and recommendations of the Fire Brigade in order to avoid a fire.
