Efforts in Florida to Increase Collective Care of Electrical Substations

Florida, August 19 – Authorities in the municipality of Florida, along with workers from the Electric Company, are conducting a joint prevention and dialogue effort with residents of areas near power substations to care for and protect resources that belong to the entire community.

Preventing the theft of dielectric oil from transformers is the main priority of these discussions, as this resource is currently unavailable in the country and, if stolen, will not be replenished for a long time, directly affecting thousands of families in Florida.

The first such crime in the province of Camagüey occurred in the municipality of Florida. Therefore, the goal of local authorities and directors of the Basic Electrical Organization (OBE) is to prevent similar situations from recurring, as well as to prevent the theft of cables and other essential components for maintaining stable electrical service in homes.

These exchanges between municipal authorities and the directors of the Basic Electrical Organization in Florida with residents living near electrical substations are vital to activating collective vigilance and preventing the theft of resources, particularly dielectric oil, which, along with the current energy crisis in the country, would make the situation of the people even more difficult.
