Increase measures to preserve food safety

The correct preparation of meals and hygiene care in this vital process are fundamental, as well as the proper preservation of meat products and others at adequate temperatures when it is decided to store them for later consumption.

According to specialists’ recommendations, among the most important measures to be taken in the kitchen at this stage are washing hands before handling food, and doing the same with fresh fruits and vegetables that are eaten without any cooking process.

Likewise, it is essential to offer each preparation the appropriate time and temperature when cooked on the stove, especially in meats to eliminate germs that may lodge inside; and after eating, if there are any portions left, store them in a timely manner in the refrigerator or fridge.

The experts also warn about the risk of keeping food exposed to the prevailing heat for more than four hours after cooking, in order to prevent them from oxidizing, as it happens easily with tomato pasta and broths.

The call is increased when it comes to feeding infants under one year of age, in which the hygiene of bottles and other utensils used in nutrition should be boiled and kept clean and away from insects to avoid the so dangerous acute diarrheal infections.
