Florida, Oct. 6.—The Economic and Social Group of the Florida Municipal Defense Council participated in full in the monthly meeting of local stakeholders in the rural Rodolfo Ramírez Esquivel People’s Council. The aim was to assess—on-site—both local and centralized solutions to core issues affecting the well-being and comprehensive development of the area.
During the discussion in the La Tomatera community, the food subgroup examined difficulties regarding milk collection and distribution, the impact of brucellosis on the cattle herd, the assurance of stable supplies for the Family Care System (SAF), and the distribution of the rationed food basket through the local network of grocery stores.
Regarding energy and basic services, the group reviewed complaints concerning electricity and landline telephone service, evaluated progress on shifting the area’s energy mix, and agreed to coordinate with private stakeholders to secure the necessary energy backup to guarantee water supplies during emergencies.
Additionally, the construction and municipal services subgroup discussed community sanitation, housing needs, and the potential for promoting the construction of «Type 4» basic housing units.
The agenda also included an analysis of transportation, emphasizing the urgent need to secure an alternative means of transport within the village for medical emergencies requiring travel to the municipal seat.
In parallel, representatives from the Education, Health, and Social Work sectors reviewed the progress of the school year in the village of El Trece and assessed the condition of the La Tomatera doctor’s office in preparation for the arrival of a new physician; they also directed the activation of special sessions of the Commission for Care and Prevention regarding vulnerable cases. This direct presence of the Defense Council in the Rodolfo Ramírez Esquivel community gives effect to the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power’s agreement to prioritize attention to rural areas, reaffirming the commitment to transforming the quality of life for families in every corner of the Florida region.
