Florida, August 7 – Members of the Union of Young Communists (UJC) in the municipality of Florida are carrying out a program of activities dedicated to the centennial of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz.
The first event took place at the Rubén Martínez Villena Public Library, with a workshop on Fidel’s life and revolutionary work, in which educators and cultural workers participated.
During the meeting, attendees exchanged comments and reflections on the legacy of the Commander-in-Chief. The library took the opportunity to promote the books about Fidel that it holds in its collection, while the municipal museum exhibited photographs from one of his visits to Florida, when he toured the soft drink factory and inaugurated the dental clinic in the Microdistrict.
Yailan Romero Suárez, municipal secretary of the Young Communist League (UJC), announced that the program will extend over several days with cultural, social, and productive activities.
The next event is scheduled for next week at the headquarters of the Hermanos Saíz Association, where a cultural campaign will be held in honor of the centennial of his birth.
The culminating activity will be a commemorative gala to be held on August 12, International Youth Day and the eve of Fidel Castro’s birthday.
With these initiatives, the youth of Florida seek to keep the thought and work of the Cuban statesman alive, involving different sectors of the community in the tribute.
