Florida, September 7 – After 15 days without electricity for hundreds of customers in the La Vallita People’s Council, in the municipality of Florida, residents continue to demand priority attention from the local government amidst the complex situation they are currently facing.
This was reiterated to the highest authorities of the territory by the President of the La Vallita Defense Zone, Eugeni Duany, who highlighted the successful start of the school year in the towns of that zone and thanked several directors for their support in his daily work. However, he also called for shortening and completing the delivery cycles of drinking water to the affected communities.
The shortage of fuel and shortcomings in institutional management remain limitations to accelerating this task and adding others that would improve the quality of life for the residents of La Vallita, an issue that also transcends the will of the municipality and requires responses from the Camagüey Provincial Government.
It is important to remember that the power outage in that part of the municipality of Florida occurred after the oil was stolen from the transformer located at the La Vallita substation, which caused it to break down and be permanently taken out of service.
Although efforts are ongoing at the national level, there has still been no positive response regarding the replacement of the equipment and the reconnection of power to the customers of the Electric Company in the communities of the La Vallita People’s Council.
