Florida, April 28 – The 65th Bivalent Oral Polio Vaccination Campaign has begun in the municipality of Florida. The campaign aims to administer two doses of the vaccine to more than 1,000 infants between one month and three years of age.
Dr. Yailin Pérez Abreu, head of the Immunization Program at the Municipal Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology, and Microbiology, reported that the vaccinations are being administered at the vaccination centers of the two polyclinics in the area. The healthcare personnel at these centers are primarily responsible for ensuring the successful administration of the vaccine.
The specialist also explained that the procedure involves administering two drops of the vaccine to the infant. It is important not to give the child water for 30 minutes before or after the immunization to allow the vaccine to effectively prevent polio.
More than a thousand children between the ages of one month and under three years old in the municipality of Florida will receive the Bivalent Oral Polio Vaccination and children who are sick during the planned vaccination period will be able to receive the polio dose between May 4 and 9, during the recovery week.
