Santa Clara, April 28 – A group of more than 314 non-state workers belonging to the housing landlords’ union section, affiliated with the Hotel and Tourism Workers’ Union in Villa Clara, called for a «Sign for the Homeland» ceremony this Monday and for massive participation in the May Day celebrations, International Workers’ Day, at an event held at the headquarters of the Central Organization of Cuban Workers (CTC) in this central region.

In a day that highlighted the growing importance of this labor segment and its contribution to the local economy, Maglin del Sol Martínez, general secretary of the labor movement in Villa Clara, told the Cuban News Agency (ACN) that the non-state sector is consolidating its contribution to provincial development, emphasizing the vitality and commitment of its workforce.

In this regard, she said that this union is an example in the internal functioning of the organization and its connection with liaison bodies.

For his part, the experienced labor leader Ernesto García Ramos, secretary of the housing landlords’ union section, reported on the widespread implementation of QR codes and the Transfermóvil app in rental properties, promoting electronic transactions that facilitate operations for clients and digital commerce.

He also mentioned the incentive and training efforts to help business owners access bank loans, such as the «My Project» and «Growing Entrepreneurship» initiatives of the Banco Popular de Ahorro (Popular Savings Bank), which offer facilities to women and young entrepreneurs with accessible repayment options and streamlined procedures.

In the union sphere, he expressed his section’s pride in the important recognitions it has received, noting that it was awarded the 22nd CTC Congress Plaque, and that one of its rental properties received the «People Who Add Up» Plaque, reflecting the valuable collective effort of a team committed to unity.

The labor leader also pointed out that the «Value of a Smile» movement is being promoted, an initiative that highlights kindness and good customer service, addressing shortcomings with quality service.

He also stated that the union actively participates in social impact projects, supporting the Provincial Center for the Homeless, the Children’s Home for Children Without Family Support, and the Oncohematology Ward.

He concluded by mentioning that these acts of solidarity are complemented by donations to victims of weather events in eastern provinces and drug prevention workshops for drug users.

With more than 57,000 members, the non-state workers of Villa Clara, through their representatives, conveyed their firm conviction that unity grants invincibility and their certainty in the progress of the nation, their daily efforts for Cuba, and the unwavering cohesion between the non-state sector and the Revolution.
