Florida students held Pioneers elections

Florida, September 30.—With their characteristic enthusiasm and joy, Florida’s primary, special education, and junior high school students participated in the Pioneer elections this Monday, September 29th. These elections are a fundamental exercise in democracy and participation from the earliest ages.

The election events took place at educational institutions representative of each level.

For primary school, the central location was the Manuel Fajardo Rivero School; for secondary school, the venue was the Agustín Farabundo Martí School; and, in parallel, the José Luis Tassende de las Muñecas Special School, to ensure the inclusion of all students.

The event was attended by local authorities, such as Alexey Cobo, member of the Party Bureau in Florida; Yailan Romero Suárez, president of the José Martí Pioneers Organization; and Yunior Vega Rivero, Director General of Education in Florida.

A highlight of this activity was the tribute paid to the first pioneer martyr, Paquito González Cueto, which highlighted the historical and patriotic significance of the process.

In these elections, students from fourth to ninth grades elected their representatives to various positions within the organization, such as presidents and vice presidents of collectives. This entails a great responsibility, as they become spokespersons for their peers and key players in the revitalization of pioneer life.
