Florida, Feb. 6 – The program of activities planned to be carried out by the selected students for the 64th anniversary Municipal Assembly of the Organization of José Martí Pioneers (OPJM), scheduled to be held on February 10 and 11 under the slogan «Dreaming my main space», as the culmination of a process initiated in November at the detachment level, began with a visit to the Floridian Museum.
Afterwards, the group moved to the Municipal Library where they exchanged with journalist Ailen Vargas Abella, who was a delegate during her pioneer stage to the Third Congress of the OPJM, and with Liliana Boudet Nápoles, current secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Florida and for years led the organization at different levels.
A sports meeting between students and teachers and a cultural evening will also take place during the week, as part of the activities organized in salute to the Pioneer Assembly, a space where delegates will expose their concerns and aspirations on how to improve the organization they belong.
Among the most debated topics during the Pioneer Assemblies are study as the main duty in the future formation of the new generations, respect and knowledge of history, the rejection of inappropriate behavior at school and in the community, the role of the pioneers and actions to consolidate the leadership of the new Pines in the student body, and their contribution to the future of the organization.
The OPJM is a social organization that brings together children from 6 to 15 years of age, which fosters in its members the love for the socialist homeland, respect for the martyrs and heroes and admiration for the traditions of revolutionary struggle of the Cuban people.
