Family medicine adds specialists in Florida

Florida, Nov. 19 – Seven physicians from the municipality of Florida obtained the title of Family Medicine Specialists, a new category of Primary Health Care that should contribute to a higher quality of assistance to the population at this level.

The curricular success of this group of professionals, five of them from the North Polyclinic and the rest from the South area, took place after a rigorous teaching preparation and evaluations that included thesis discussion, practical exams and a written state exam.

Among the tests developed by the graduates, in order to conquer their new scientific category, the most important ones were the verification of the performance in the clinical consultation, family visits, home visits, interconsultation, analysis of the health situation of the Clinic, besides the discussion of health problems of the environment and emergency care for a total of seven highly complex practical exercises.

The title of Specialist in Family Medicine, granted by the Medical University of Camagüey to seven public health professionals in this municipality, replaces the previous denomination of expert in General Comprehensive Medicine, and constitutes an achievement for the army of white coats in this Agramontina region.
