Florida, July 22 – The commitment with Food Security and Sovereignty Program of the people of Florida was once again proven during a party visit to the advanced producers Felipe Alcántara Quintas and Jorge Hernández Mesa, whose farms have several caballerias of land planted with various crops such as cassava, plantain, pumpkin, rice, melon and sweet potato.
Led by the first secretary of the Municipal Committee of the Communist Party, Liliana Boudet Nápoles, the tour served to verify and recognize the effort and results of both farmers of Conquista Popular Council and linked to the productive system of Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz Agroindustrial Sugar Company.
Also evaluated during the tour were the demands and needs of each of these producers to move forward with certainty in the effort to obtain significant amounts of food for the people, in the shortest possible time.
Consequently, Felipe Alcántara and Jorge Hernández requested more support in the provision of agricultural machinery services and access to such units, until such time as they can recover and start up their own equipment.
Even though the drought refuses to leave the soils of both members of the productive vanguard of the municipality of Florida, the enthusiasm and spirit of victory that Jorge and Felipe show day after day, constitutes the best irrigation system for their agri-food commitment, translated into quality of the sowing and favorable estimate for the yield of the harvests.
