In Florida it is necessary to control agricultural production more.

July, 2024.- When referring to a strategic task such as food production, the Army General and leader of the Revolution, Raúl Castro Ruz, warned it for a long time when he said: We must turn to the land!

In the current economic situation that the country presents and in the face of modern phenomena that impact inside and outside the sector, this commentator would also dare to say that it is also necessary to move to the land, with the weapons of control, the use of legality, the requirement of respect for agreements with the State and the yardstick to measure true commitment to the needs of the people.

Enough of repetitive and sterile meetings and debates in classrooms. As long as the systematic supervision of agricultural production, the work of grassroots leaders and the performance of farmers in the fields and their commitment to the people’s food are not really respected and supported, from all levels, we will continue to go blind. in this important task.

It would be dishonest if I did not recognize that steps forward were taken in Florida on that path, but bureaucracy, fuel shortages, the deficit in official transportation, the so-called reunionists of the province and a host of top priority missions managed to derail the train. of government and political visits to the agrarian base, at least those in which the press also functioned as an observer and transmitter of images, criteria, gaps and recognitions.

So, how to know with greater certainty where and who is growing the food that Florida requires? What do cowboys do or think who do not collect a liter of milk for months? How much truth do reports and accounts concentrate in cold places far from the concrete? How many meetings do intermediaries and resellers have with those same people who assumed the commitment and mandate of producing for the people?

These are questions that only by walking the farms and cooperatives in the territory could have an accurate answer.

The master’s eye makes the horse fat, says an old saying; while another, with the same antiquity, reminds us of the importance of having trust in people, but banishing blind faith that can turn beautiful numbers into product diversions, stratospheric prices, empty markets and upside-down plates.

Since the world is seen world it makes faith; Therefore, as journalist Reinaldo Taladrid says: everyone draws his own conclusions.
