Florida, June 12, 2010 – Special morning sessions aimed to award blood donors who work in Florida’s educational system will be held this Friday, June 14, in educational institutions as part of the celebration of Donor’s Day, also a time to pay tribute to General Antonio Maceo and Commander Ernesto Che Guevara.
Talks and workshops with students and teachers are other actions to be developed in schools during this week with the collaboration of the Public Health staff of the territory, to highlight the fundamental role of blood and plasma donations and not remunerated.
Every June 14, World Blood Donor Day is celebrated by decision of the World Health Organization, a special opportunity to thank those who voluntarily extend their arm to ensure universal access to transfusions or blood products to those in need.
The World Blood Donor Day is a worthy recognition to those who, from anonymity, guarantee the existence of this tissue for transfusions and the obtaining of plasma for the elaboration of necessary medicines for cancer patients and pregnant women, and is presided in this opportunity by the motto 20 years celebrating generosity: Thank you very much, blood donor!
