Florida, Oct. 24—The Fidel Castro Ruz Chair at the Florida Municipal University Center paid tribute to the centennial of the historic leader of the Revolution’s birth and to Cuban Culture Day with a talk by Margarita Fernández, director of the Municipal Museum. She exhibited photographs of the Commander’s visits to the country and some pieces housed at the cultural institution.
One of the central themes of the talk was the display of various gifts given to Fidel Castro throughout his life by prominent figures, friends, and admirers, which are now treasured by the Florida Municipal Museum.
Among the pieces of inestimable historical value that the institution preserves is a portrait of the leader that the Rosell family gave him on his birthday in 2016, shortly before his physical departure, and a statuette of the Commander that has been displayed as a monthly exhibit at the Florida museum.
The Chair, like the Museum, plays an active role in historical education and dissemination, actions that, in the context of the centennial of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, seek to project his revolutionary thinking into the future.
