Florida residents must stay informed and alert about the weather situation

Florida, June 3.- The rainy weather persists in the territory, the degree of soil moisture continues to rise and the probability of flooding, a situation that confirms the importance of staying well informed and alert to reduce disaster risks.

In addition to executing as many cleaning and dredging actions of ditches and canals as possible in the communities in a timely manner, these days the need to reinforce the treatment of drinking water in the face of possible contamination of underground sources by floods is ratified.

According to a report from the Civil Defense authorities in the municipality, throughout this week meteorological surveillance remains active and security and protection measures are specified with the presidents and delegates of the 11 people’s councils, without up to now report significant flooding or some type of material affectation.

Specialists from the Municipal Risk Reduction Management Center specify that the current rainfall is beneficial for the main Florida reservoirs, since most of them are in need of water, especially the Muñoz dam whose water reserves do not even reach 20 percent. percent of its storage capacity.
