Health authorities call to reverse current indicators of Maternal and Child Program in Florida

Florida, March 1.- To work comprehensively, united in the same goal and with the greatest possible sensitivity to positively transform the indicators of the Florida Maternal and Child Program, was the call made by the Deputy and municipal director of Public Health, Nelson del Sol Serrallonga, to the delegates members of the highest local government body.

«It is necessary to demand, accompany and support the Doctor and the Nurse much more in their charge of caring for pregnant and lactating women in the community, sensitize families about the responsibility they assume in the face of maternity and newborn care and open more space for sexual and reproductive education,” said the manager during the analysis of the issue at the recent ordinary session of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power.

Florida concluded the previous calendar with a total of 13 deceased children, nine of them under one year of age, for a rate of 15.6 per thousand live births, and at the end of January this indicator was above 14 integers, from the loss of another infant to unknown causes.

Among the actions of the government that should contribute, together with the performance of the institutions of the Public Health system for the favorable transformation of these numbers in the territory, the accompaniment of hospital centers and other areas during the analysis, supervision and control of the aforementioned problem, respect the protocols established in the Maternal and Child Care Program and face institutional indiscipline and the pregnant women themselves.

In the analysis carried out by the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power in Florida, the improvement of social care was also demanded in terms of the delivery of resources such as cribs, and other items, for the benefit of the quality of life of the mother and the child. newborn, and guarantees of rural transportation that supports medical care for pregnant women, postpartum women, and infants.
