Florida, Jan 11.- The mechanized squad belonging to the Abel Santamaría Cuadrado Agricultural Production Cooperative (CPA), from the municipality of Florida, advances satisfactorily in the cultivation of cane for the current harvest, with more than four thousand tons of material premium sent to the Panama, Vertientes and Carlos Manuel Céspedes power plants.
The main commitment expressed by the workers and managers of the entity linked to the agro-productive system of the Argentine mill focuses on the fulfillment of the daily task, with the search for solutions and alternatives in the face of the lack of tires, batteries and other resources necessary to sustain , above all, sugarcane transport activities.
With a park made up of two KTP harvesting machines and several trucks and trailers of its own, the CPA Abel Santamaría of Florida aims to contribute a little more than 12 thousand tons of cane to the present sugar contest, with an average yield of almost 36 per hectare.
Eliécer Gómez Lafita, member of the National Committee of the Cuban Association of Small Farmers and president of the cooperative, highlighted the optimistic atmosphere prevailing in his harvest group and confirmed the existence of guarantees for the care of workers, including food and payment of wages.
The highest administrative leader of the peasants in the CPA, Abel Santamaría, also highlighted the will to sustain the sugarcane recovery behind the cut, starting from the attention to the shoots, the preparation of land and the planting of 127 hectares of sugarcane in the next stage of spring.
