Florida, Oct 14.- The municipality of Florida will host the provincial event for World Rural Women’s Day on October 15, a celebration that will take place at nine in the morning on the same date at the Credit and Services Cooperative (CCS) Camilo Cienfuegos Gorriarán.
According to the information offered by the ideological sphere of the municipal leadership of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP), the meeting will be attended by outstanding peasant women and female leaders of the sector, along with representatives of the Federation of Cuban Women from various territories.
The International Day of Rural Women is commemorated every October 15, based on an agreement adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization aimed at making visible the performance of millions of women linked to agricultural tasks, and recognizing their contribution to food security and poverty reduction.
Cuba, and in particular the municipality of Florida as the host this Saturday of the provincial act for the anniversary, will celebrate the date with the fulfillment of many of the purposes agreed in its declaration, including the improvement of the living conditions of rural women, the attention to their needs and their empowerment in the economic, political and social spheres.
