Florida, March 2 – «The defense of history and its main protagonists is today the essence, the bulwark, and the wellspring of principles that sustain the unity and resistance of the Cuban people against the flames of imperialism and the restrictions imposed by its unjust and criminal blockade.»
This was the assertion of Major Marcial Caballero Carmenate during his address at the Annual Review Assembly of the Independent Department for Veterans’ Care in the municipality of Florida. The assembly discussed the results of this important government mission for the period up to 2025 and approved the work plans for the current year.
During the meeting, outstanding issues were reiterated, such as improving working conditions at the veterans’ care office, the need for transportation for this purpose, completing the study on the housing conditions of those receiving benefits, and opening spaces in the Florida cemetery for deceased veterans.
Among the activities planned in the current calendar, aimed at improving support for the more than 90 veterans receiving assistance in Florida, are increased food aid and greater social recognition for each individual’s revolutionary service.
During the period under review, the support provided by agencies such as Public Health, Labor and Social Security, and associations for people with disabilities, along with the Government’s Unit Number One and the local radio station, was particularly noteworthy. These initiatives contributed to the physical, economic, and spiritual well-being of the veterans and the families of those who died defending the homeland.
The 2025 Annual Review of Economic, Social, Medical, and Material Assistance for vulnerable veterans in Florida highlighted, praising the committed and supportive actions of the staff at that territorial office, led by its director, Félix Rizo Ramos.
