Florida, March 2 – Evelyn Márquez Álvarez, president of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power in Florida, called on the delegates of this local body to develop a more active role in social cohesion, community oversight, and addressing the needs and demands of the people in the current situation.
The main representative of the highest body of State Power in the territory instructed the leaders of the 80 local districts to review the status of proposals, monitor the provision of services daily, and oversee the development of productive and commercial activities in their respective areas.
She also recalled that the decision by the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba to release most of the people’s delegates from their regular work duties starting in February aims to keep them fully dedicated to their role as representatives of the people and to finding and proposing solutions to the problems faced by their constituents in Florida’s neighborhoods and communities.
The president of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power in Florida herself reminded her colleagues of the importance of rising to the challenge of this historic moment for the country, threatened, blockaded, and attacked by the world’s greatest economic and military power. In this context, she said, «the most important thing is to stand with our people, listen to them, and guide them in the most pressing tasks on the current agenda.»
