Florida, January 28 – Students from the Abel Santamaría Cuadrado Primary School in the rural community of Algarrobo, Florida municipality, along with leaders from the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) at various levels, held an Open Forum of Revolutionary Reaffirmation to commemorate the 173rd anniversary of José Martí’s birth and to express their support for the sovereignty of the Venezuelan and Cuban peoples.
The event took place during an exchange between the ANAP National Bureau and farmers from Camagüey at the grassroots level and demonstrated the values promoted by the Apostle of Cuban Independence, which we defend together today. It also joined in the call for freedom for Bolivarian President Nicolás Maduro and his wife and demanded respect for the right of all peoples to live in peace.
Drawing inspiration from iconic figures of the Golden Age, the students of Abel Santamaría Elementary School spoke about the importance of humanism, solidarity, patriotism, and unity as forces to overcome imperialism. They rejected the selfishness, unbridled ambition, and contempt for human beings that the United States government seeks to establish in today’s world.
At the close of the event, which became a patriotic forum in the Florida community of Algarrobo, Renier Cruz González, an official from the National Bureau of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP), reaffirmed the importance of the organization’s connection with new generations in every community where it operates. He expressed his gratitude for the affection and support shown by the students and called for greater attention from farmers to the educational centers where the future farmers of their own communities are being trained.
