Florida, Oct. 3 – Cuban Minister of Energy and Mines Vicente de la O Levi, accompanied by the Director General of the Electricity Union (Unión Eléctrica), Alfredo López Valdés, reviewed the progress of the construction of the Photovoltaic Solar Park being built in the town of Ortigal, in the municipality of Florida.
Along with the main investors and contractors of the project, the high-ranking official evaluated the site’s characteristics firsthand, outlined measures to coordinate pending issues, and inquired about the possible completion date and the progress made so far.
De la O Levi was received on site by the Provincial Government Coordinator for Energy, Transportation, and Telecommunications Programs, Beatriz Rodríguez Fernández. Also present were the highest-ranking officials of the municipality of Florida, led by the First Secretary of the Party here, Liliana Boudet Nápoles.
The Photovoltaic Solar Park, located on the outskirts of the Ortigal community in the municipality of Florida, will occupy approximately 36 hectares of land and include a total of seven inverters, the foundations of which are already in the process of being prepared.
When this project is completed, it is expected to contribute approximately 20 megawatts to the National Electricity System, with a focus, above all, on meeting the energy demands of the Cuban population.
