Florida, September 5 – Ignacio Agramonte Sugar Agroindustrial Company in the municipality of Florida achieved favorable results in the planting of various crops during the spring season, with more than 240 hectares reported at the end of August.
Although perhaps more could have been done, amid the lack of rain, farmers in this production system managed to exceed their proposed goals and added new rice, cassava, corn, plantain, and squash plantations that will provide food for the final stretch of the year.
Among the production bases that set the pace in the planting of various crops in the aforementioned entity during the final stage are the Mártires de Florida and El Mambí Basic Cooperative Production Units (UBPC).
At the other extreme were the farmers of the Manuel Pity Fajardo Credit and Services Cooperative (CCS) and the El Vaquerito UBPC collective, where the current call is to increase the pace during the cold season, take advantage of the weather conditions, and plant the seeds of food security and sovereignty in the land in time.
