The 64th Bivalent Oral Polio Vaccination Campaign begins in Florida

Comienza en Florida 64 Campaña de Vacunación Antipoliomielítica Oral Bivalente

Florida, April 21 – The 64th Bivalent Oral Polio Vaccination Campaign will be carried out in the municipality of Florida from this Monday, April 21 to next April 26, according to Dr. Yailin Pérez Abreu, advisor of the Immunization Program at the Municipal Center of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology of the territory.

The specialist explained that on this occasion, children from 30 days old and under three years old will be immunized, and as usual, the vaccination will be carried out in the family doctor’s offices and in the vaccinatories of the polyclinics of the city, which have all the necessary conditions for the success of the campaign.

She also said that it is being carried out in two stages: “The first one coincides with the 23rd Vaccination Week of the Americas and the 14th World Immunization Week, while the second stage will be from June 16 to 21, with recovery from June 23 to 28 of the same month”.

Dr. Yailin Perez Abreu pointed out that the drug has no contraindication to be administered simultaneously with another vaccine of the expanded program of immunization; but it should not be used in immunodeficient children, nor in infants with a temperature of 38°C or higher, vomiting or diarrhea; they should wait 30 minutes before and after the vaccination to ingest water or any food.
