Florida and Céspedes beekeepers evaluate achievements and difficulties of the past year (+Post)

Florida, Feb. 13 – The beekeepers of the municipality of Florida held the balance meeting of the results of 2024, a period in which they faced challenges and shortages that limited the productive capacity of the apiaries and the possibility of obtaining and stocking the totality of the items committed for that year.

The lack of fuel in the final stretch of the year, the difficulties in moving the apiaries to places with a greater abundance of honey plants and the flowering deficit in the previous stage put an end to part of the plans to deliver honey, wax and propolis to the Camagüey Beekeeping Company.

However, Dr. Ana Margarita González Sáez, chief executive of Apiculture in the municipalities of Céspedes and Florida, recognized the effort of the breeders of both territories in the evaluated stage and called them not to collapse in the effort to produce much more during the campaign that has just begun.

The annual balance of beekeeping in this region served as a stage for the presentation of awards to the honey producers who reached the status of vanguard and outstanding in their work during 2024.

The balance assembly itself approved the awarding of diplomas of appreciation to the Municipal University Center, the Radio Florida radio station and to Sonia Horta Ramírez, economic specialist of the Cooperativa de Créditos y Servicios Frank País, for their continuous and committed support in each of the activities of local beekeeping.

Special tribute was paid by the producers and directors of this agricultural sphere to Miroslava Pacheco Martínez, Master of Science, who from her position as Foreign Trade specialist in the municipal government accompanied, promoted, disseminated and always defended the work of Floridian beekeeping in different scenarios.
