Florida, Jan. 25 – Humberto Alejandro Linares Rodriguez, a student of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela High School in the municipality of Florida, won first place in the National Orthography Contest held in Sancti Spíritus, and was crowned champion in the well-known contest.
The young Floridian, who is in 12th grade and was the absolute representative of Camagüey in the national event, had previously participated in the Provincial Contest where he competed in various grammar tests, which allowed the jury to award him a gold medal.
The National Orthography Contest was attended by students and teachers from the country’s Higher Secondary Education institutions, including the Camilo Cienfuegos Military Schools.
The event encourages the knowledge of the mother tongue and reading habits, it is also an excellent way to prepare for the entrance exams to Higher Education, since orthography is one of the evaluation requirements in all disciplines.
