Tackling crime among the tasks of Strategic Exercise Bastion 2024

Florida, Jan. 24 – The first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, said that “crime, indiscipline and corruption threaten the most sacred aspect of the socialist process, the greatest possible social justice and citizen security.

Under these convictions, the municipality of Florida needs a more forceful, integrated, social and community confrontation to each one of these scourges, taking into account that so far this January the territory registers a growth of almost 40 percent in the incidence of crime with respect to the same period of the previous year.

According to official sources, a total of 87 incidents have been reported to date, including thefts, burglary, robbery and slaughter of livestock and others that alter and offend the tranquility of citizens, and show the importance of multiplying collective vigilance, respect for the rights of others and social discipline, together with administrative control and the safeguarding of goods in state institutions and in the private sector.

“We cannot allow those who do not work, do not cooperate, and move in an environment of illegality to earn more and have better living conditions than those who really work honestly, contribute and star in the history of the daily heroism of the Cuban people,” said Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez in his constant condemnation of the phenomenon of crime.

“We are going to face it with unity, courage, justice, determination, order, discipline and effectiveness” has reiterated on several occasions the also president of the National Defense Council, and protected in that permanent orientation, the commands and groups of the municipality of Florida participating in the Strategic Exercise Bastion 2024, advanced this Thursday in the execution of tasks of prevention and control of the criminal potential throughout the geography of the territory.
