Florida, Sept. 17 – Marina, is the title of the work of Camagüey-born artist Jorge Santos Díaz, exhibited at the Florida Municipal Museum this month, as a tribute to the outstanding painter on the 28th anniversary of his death.

Santos Diaz transcended in the artistic panorama of Camagüey as the “ Pintor de la Ciudad” for reflecting in his works urban landscapes of the City of the Tinajones, although the sea seduced him and in a stage of his life he made a series of seascapes.

Marina, the piece exhibited at the Municipal Museum, is an original work in oil on canvas, made by the author in 1987 and is part of the extensive collection of the cultural institution that this September remembers the remarkable painter 28 years after his death.

Jorge Santos Díaz died on September 12, 1996, when his paintbrush, moved by the most intimate feelings of the human being, still had thousands of concerns to capture.

For his constant dedication to authentic art, Santos Díaz received throughout a successful career, awards and decorations and the recognition of governmental and cultural institutions of the country and Camagüey.
