Florida, Aug. 17 – Children that receive medical attention at the Leopoldo Rey Sampayo pediatric hospital enjoyed a cultural activity offered especially for them by the members of the José Martí Art Instructors Brigade and the museologists of the Municipal Museum on the occasion of the 39th anniversary of the inauguration of this health unit.
The witticisms of the clown Corbatín made the children laugh, and the songs interpreted by the art instructors and cultural promoters were received with more than one ovation; for her part, the museologist and researcher Margarita Fernández talked about the founding moment of the aforementioned hospital and showed photos taken on the day of the inauguration.
The Leopoldo Rey Sampayo pediatric hospital in Florida was opened on August 10, 1985, the ceremony was attended by Army General Raúl Castro Ruz accompanied by Vilma Espín Guillois, president of the Federation of Cuban Women; at that time Raúl, while touring the hospital, asked all its workers to be among the best collectives in the public health sector in the country.
The cultural activity that took place at the Floridian pediatric hospital was also dedicated to the centenary of the declaration of Florida as a municipal district and is one of the actions of the Culture sector during the current summer season.
