Florida, Aug. 13 – During the celebrations for the 39th anniversary of the opening of the Leopoldo Rey Sampayo Hospital in the municipality of Florida, the workers of the pediatric institution set goals to welcome its next birthday, along with others for the future.
Among the most important ones are to keep the infant mortality rate at zero, to raise the quality of medical care in the middle of the current difficult conditions, and to manage, in the medium term, the introduction of an Intensive Care service that will favor the survival of children and adolescents of the territory and avoid greater inconveniences to their families during their stay in that hospital.
According to Dr. Nelson del Sol Serrallonga, director of the Florida Pediatric Hospital, on the eve of the 40th anniversary of this emblematic unit of the Public Health system, actions will be taken to recover the professional and support work force necessary to keep all the services active.
Since its official opening, on August 10, 1985, with the presence of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, together with the Hero of the Sierra Vilma Espín Guillois, the Florida Pediatric Hospital proudly holds, to date, the merit of being the most awarded Public Health unit in the whole country.
This award is a recognition of the effort and proven commitment of the men and women who have defended the unity, scientific level and human solidarity of this exemplary group.
