Causes of non-compliance of food production programs in Florida unveiled (+Post)

Develan causas del incumplimiento de programas de producción de alimentos en Florida

Florida, Aug. 5 – Among the causes of non-compliance with the main agri-food plans of the municipality of Florida in the current stage are the deficient work of the boards of directors with the ranchers and farmers at the base, lack of control over the productive processes, and violations in the application of the laws and policies of the agrarian sector.

This was demonstrated in the conclusions of the integral control carried out to the Agricultural Production Cooperatives (CPA) Carlos Días Cervantes and to the credit and services cooperative Romárico Cordero Garcés, which counted with the participation of the first secretary of the Municipal Committee of the Communist Party, Liliana Boudet Nápoles.

The review of governing documents, the tour of the farms and the exchange with managers and farmers of both entities revealed violations in the contracting process, lack of follow-up on the delivery of milk and meat to the industry, indiscipline in the response to the state order and weaknesses in the political work and confrontation with non-compliant parties.

Even though the CPA Carlos Díaz Cervantes generally complies with the sale of beef to the food industry, it is striking, for example, that the more than 30 tons planned to be delivered there this year rest only on the shoulders of three of the 22 cattlemen of the peasant base, a lack of respect to what is established by the norms for the ownership and exploitation of cattle herds.

With an accumulated debt with the Combinado Lácteo of almost three thousand liters of milk, in the agrarian collective of the cooperative Carlos Díaz Cervantes, its board of directors and other governing bodies of Agriculture in Florida authorize the production of cheese to several farmers with facilities for the collection of this fluid liquid.

In the case of the CCS Románico Cordero, the inspection carried out by the local agrarian direction structures recommended to review, among other matters, the load of animals in each farm and to analyze why only 36 percent of the 146 cattle farmers of the cooperative assumed meat stocking plans in the current year.

Summarizing both control visits to the productive base, the main leader of the Communist Party in Florida strongly criticized the deficiencies detected and called to comply with what has been established in the agricultural sector in order to respond to the food demands of the people.

The political leader of the territory also reiterated that from now on these comprehensive visits will be maintained to reveal shortcomings, recognize efforts and point out those responsible for the delay in the progress of the Food Security and Food Sovereignty programs in this Camagüey area.
