Students of Sabino Pupo Polytechnic of Florida receive their degrees as skilled workers (+Post)

Florida, Jul. 15 – In a graduation ceremony, 16 students of Sabino Pupo Milián Agricultural Polytechnic Institute (IPA) received their diplomas as qualified workers in the specialty of tobacco twisters.

Leonard Rodríguez Castro, Maisel Céspedes Cabrera, Yadiel Cossío Hurtado and Leydi Diana Torres Acosta were the best graduates, while professors Mirtha Smith and Marcia Jon received recognition for the quality of the teaching transmitted to these young people; and Yudelmis Luna León and expert Dayamí Milanés Rodríguez were also honored for the attention given to the students during the pre-professional internship period.

During the two years of preparation, the students carried out their labor practices at Rolando Valdivia Tobacco Factory, going through different areas, including the «despalillo», cigar rolling and banding, which allowed them to acquire the necessary knowledge and to get in touch with other young people of the entity who learn one of the most traditional Cuban trades.

The specialty of skilled worker in tobacco twisting is an option available to students who complete the ninth grade, which guarantees a trade after two years of studies at the IPA Sabino Pupo Milián, and the subsequent guarantee of employment in Rolando Valdivia Factory in the municipality of Florida.
