Florida, June 11 – A citizen died in Florida as a consequence of a traffic accident that occurred this Monday around 5:00 a.m. at kilometer 535 of the central highway, specifically in a stretch of this main artery in the rural community of Las Margaritas.

The deceased was identified as Joaquín Rodríguez Morales, 63 years old, who while riding a bicycle on that stretch of the national road was hit by a Yutong bus from the province of Granma.

In a preliminary report on the accident, the police referred to a possible inattention to the road by the driver of the passenger bus, but at the time of writing, investigations were still underway to determine the exact causes of the accident.

It was also learned that this same Monday, at dawn and also at kilometer 535 of the central highway in Florida, another incident occurred when a truck carrying a load of guavas coming from the province of Ciego de Avila on its way to the Florida community of La Vallita, had a technical malfunction and went off the road, but without causing injuries or significant material damage, according to a report from the Municipal Road and Traffic Commission.
