Florida, May 9 – Preventing Acute Diarrheal Diseases (ADA) and taking extreme measures to combat the Aedes aegypti mosquito are fundamental missions in the current spring season, with the objective of limiting morbidity and protecting the quality of life of the Floridian population.
Actions such as boiling drinking water, especially in the case of children under one year of age; ensuring that food is properly cleaned, prepared and preserved; washing hands before eating; and going to the doctor at the first signs of repeated stomach incontinence are key to maintaining health during these days.
The recurrence of rains can not only cause contamination of drinking water supply networks for various reasons, but also guarantees the renewal of reservoirs of life for the transmitting agent of Dengue and other latent infectious and contagious diseases in the territory.
Consequently, the battle of the specialists of the Public Health sector and of the people in general against the mosquito must be increased, from the elimination of its possible hosts and the commitment with the community and family autofocal, together with the active sanitary surveillance in the complex situation that the country is going through.
