The hero of Giron Rolando Valdivia is evoked at the grandparent’s house in Florida

Florida, April 17 – The activity Alegría y Esperanza (Joy and Hope) was dedicated to the Floridian martyr Rolando Valdivia Fernandez and the combatants of Playa Giron, held at the Casa de los Abuelos (Grandparents’ House), under the auspices of the specialists of the Municipal Museum of Florida.

In her dissertation, museologist Margarita Fernández Cervantes highlighted the young man who died on the sands of Playa Girón on April 19, 1961 with only 16 years old, showed photos and documents of the combatant related to his family life preserved in the Municipal Museum, and also referred to the Floridians Justo Martínez Veliz and Ciro Martín Delgado, protagonists of the feat.

A similar action was developed in the Programming Workshop of the municipal sectorial of Culture attended by representatives of the cultural institutions of the territory and members of the board of directors of this entity, meeting in which the activities that the Museum of Florida carries out in the framework of the Day of Girón and for the International Day of the Monuments and Sites to be celebrated on April 18 were announced.
