Florida, Mar. 20 – The coordinating directorate of the Mi Costa Project in the province of Camagüey appreciates that good progress is being made in Florida in the implementation of the training program set out among the objectives of this international collaboration initiative, aimed at strengthening coastal resilience to climate change in 24 localities of the Cuban southern coast.
The most recent actions promoted by the team of the Mi Costa Project of the municipality in Playa Florida, where the priority is to increase the preparation of the community members group monitoring the ecosystem and promoting the creation of adaptation and transformation capacities in the inhabitants of this locality, threatened by the rise of the sea level
At the Heriberto Martín Guzmán elementary school in the coastal town of Florida, an annex classroom is now being used more frequently to train the inhabitants of this vulnerable community on the need to preserve marine ecosystems and how to do it in the most sustainable way in daily practice.
The provincial coordination of the My Coast Project also highlights that the Floridian team that leads this environmental initiative promoted the signing of a collaboration agreement with the fishing unit of Playa Florida, another force to be added along with the groups of the Forest Ranger Services and the State Forestry Service, to materialize in the municipality the activities aimed at strengthening the capacities to adapt and confront climate change in the coastal area of southern Cuba.
