Cuban Press Day Activities Began in Florida (+Post)

Florida, March 7 – The Press Day was inaugurated in the municipality of Florida with a wreath placed at the statue of the Apostle of Cuban independence José Martí, on the occasion of the commemoration of the 132nd anniversary of the first publication of the newspaper Patria on March 14.

Yaimyr Victoria Basulto, head of the Ideological Department of the Provincial Committee of the Party in Camagüey and Liliana Boudet Nápoles, main leader of that organization in the territory, accompanied the workers of Radio Florida and its journalists in a timely meeting to remember Yurislenia Pardo Ortega who began her working life in this media and since then showed deep commitment as a professional of the Cuban press.

During the inaugural day, information was given about the activities dedicated to the improvement of journalists, planned for the whole month of March, which include locution workshops, sound production and publication of contents in social networks.

The Press Day is dedicated to the 170th anniversary of the birth of patriot Juan Gualberto Gómez, Delegate of the Master and distinguished anti-Plattista, and to the 95th birthday of Ernesto Vera Méndez, fighter against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista and founder of the Union of Journalists of Cuba.
