Florida, Jan. 6 – The fleeting revolutionary and political life of Camilo Cienfuegos Gorriarán is the essential argument of the book El joven Camilo, by General William Gálvez, presented this Monday at the Centro de Documentación e Información y Pedagógica (CDIP), in the municipality of Florida, on the eve of the 92nd anniversary of the birth of the Señor de la Vanguardia (Lord of the Vanguard).
To produce this work, dedicated to children and young people, the author made use of the testimonies of people who had close ties with Camilo, as well as the epistolary and diary of the intrepid Commander, which allows presenting to the reader the figure of a simple young man of the people and the legendary personality of a hero.
School librarians, invited to the activity, read some of the experiences of the legendary fighter that appear in the work, many of them unpublished, presented in this book in a recreated, corrected and expanded form, together with little known facts related to the hero of the winged hat.
The promotion of other books about Camilo Cienfuegos and the exhibition of serial publications related to the Hero of Yaguajay, were part of the tribute program to the man with the wide smile.
