Florida, January 29.- José Martí was a convinced defender of the importance of promoting the teaching of agriculture and promoting it in towns where it constitutes the fundamental economic basis of subsistence and obtaining wealth.
Such was his conviction, and consequently the Cuban Apostle stated that: «Children should be taught to read this phrase: Agriculture is the only constant, certain and entirely pure source of wealth.» For this reason, he recommended that: «Next to each Hispanic-American crib, a bed of earth and a hoe would be placed (…) And behind each school an agricultural workshop, in the rain and sun, where each student would plant his tree.»
To verify the application of such concepts, the journalist Pedro Pablo Sáez Herrera visited the facilities of the Leonor Pérez Cabrera primary school, where Martí’s word becomes a reality every day, and spoke with the master of sciences Raiza Suárez Morgan, Comprehensive Level Methodology Primary Education, which provides job training in these grades in the general directorate of Florida Education.
