Mártires de Barbados production unit in Florida plans to increase agri-food results

Florida, January 22.- Mártires de Barbados Basic Cooperative Production Unit (UBPC), of the Argentine sugar system, in the municipality of Florida, plans to increase agri-food results during 2024, with the purpose of contributing much more to the economic development of the territory and maintain collective satisfaction.

For the current period, the 25 associates of the entity, together with the 12 usufructuaries linked to it, face the challenge of harvesting in the current harvest almost 20 thousand tons of cane destined for the industry and collecting more than 36 thousand liters of milk for social consumption.

The increase in the planting and diversification of various crops for self-consumption and popular marketing is another of the main challenges to be overcome by the men and women who work in the Mártires de Barbados, a production unit located in the sugarcane area known as La 36.

According to the information offered by Edilberto Conde Camí, president of that Florida UBPC for more than two decades, during the previous calendar they managed to maintain a favorable financial status, which allowed the payment of an end-of-year salary stimulation and the delivery of a module consisting of food, drinks and personal hygiene products for each of the cooperative members.
