Florida, May 7 – Etian Julio Pérez Quintero, a sixth-grade student at Leonor Pérez Cabrera Elementary School, was recognized in a moving ceremony this Wednesday for his outstanding participation in a track and field meet held in the Dominican Republic.
The young athlete, in the 10-12 age group, won four gold medals in the 60-meter dash, 1,000-meter race, and relay race.
The young athlete was the only representative from Florida and the province of Camagüey at the international competition, an achievement that fills his family, his coach, and his community with pride. During the ceremony, Etian Julio received certificates of recognition from his school and a standing ovation from his classmates and everyone present.
The ceremony was attended by his coach, Óscar Thompson Rivera, officials from the Sports Sector, his parents, students, teachers, members of the Rolando Valdivia People’s Council, and the school’s principal, Martha Morgan Soroa.
The event was a well-deserved tribute to the effort, discipline, and talent of a child who, through his performance, has brought honor to his school and his community. The school community proudly celebrated this new achievement for local sports.
